amazingly natural reflection of your recording. Great care is taken to ensure that all of our microphones have their own unique qualities to help achieve incredibly high levels of authenticity. Most important for us is what we hear. Additionally, we employ technical tests and measurements that allow us to push the physical limits of sound quality.

What makes Brauner Microphones so unique?

Extremely low self noise

A full and authentic sound for the tube microphones as well as for the

phantom powered microphones

Suited for all kind of applications

All microphones are handcrafted in Germany

Topmost quality of all used components (made in Germany, most of them

developed and specified by Dirk Brauner)

Brauner History / Theory Behind the Designs

The first mic that Dirk Brauner developed was the VM1.

He had the idea and the vision to build a perfect sounding microphone. A microphone to keep the spirit of the glorious old tube microphones alive, whilst complying with the high technical standards of modern high-tech microphones in the same way.

After the overwhelming feedback he received from all the users, he developed the Valvet microphone.

The Valvet circuitry is based on the VM1 circuitry and has also the openness and transparency of the VM1.

Compared to the VM1 the Valvet has a slightly reduced set of equipment components (only 3 pattern, smaller shock mount, no windscreen). By this reduced set of components Dirk was able to offer a top level microphone for a more reasonable price.

The next tube microphone then was the VMA. The basic idea behind the VMA was to offer a sound that was very different from the VM1 sound and which is often described as a vintage kind of sound.

It has a slightly pronounced high mid and bottom range with a very soft and silky top end. Being the essence of many years of development of tube microphones the VMA offers two different sound characters, the VM1 and the VMA sound

.

The VMX offers a single sound, the vintage character sound of the VMA.

Regarding the FET microphones, the first mic based on this technology was the Phantom.

The Phantom is based on the same philosophy as the VM1. It offers an open and natural sound with a very high resolution of sonic details.

So to speak, the Phantom is the non-tube counterpart of the VM1.

The Phantom is available as a cardioid only or variable pattern (Phantom V) mic.

At present the cardioid only version of the Phantom is now available as the

Phantom Classic.

It has a high resolution of sonic details; and a soft and silky top end that is very warm sounding.

The Phanthera. The great sound of the VMX/VMA was the inspiration of the sound of the Phanthera..

The Phanthera is the non-tube counterpart of the VMX.
